Chestnut Street

Chestnut Street was known as “South Center Street” until the later part of the 19th century. It was essentially a lane connecting Main to Second Street.  East of the concert hall (now Conrads) was a carriage shop. The remainder of the lane consisted of barns or tenant houses belonging to estates of the other three corners.
