1 Highland Road

Each of the three houses at 1, 3, and 8 Highland Road appear on the 1872 map of Geneseo, but not on the 1858 map. Therefore, they were likely built sometime between these dates. The 1872 map shows a house at 1 Highland listed in the name of A. Hurburt.  Alvin Hurburt was born in Geneseo and lived here all of his life.  He was a veteran of the Civil War and when he died in 1917 at the age of 83 he was living here with his granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Johnson, to whom the house was transferred.
