11 Oak Street

2007

Hiram Leonard built this Queen Anne style house about 1889, soon after Oak Street was opened. Although he owned other properties in Geneseo, this is where he and his wife and daughter made their home.  Mr. Leonard was a highly regarded and much sought after contractor of the day.  He also was an avid baseball player and a member of the famous Livingston baseball team of the 1880’s and 90’s.  When he died in 1939 at the age of 84 he left the house to his daughter Laura who had married John McClymont in 1923.  Mr. McClymont was a plumber who conducted his business from his home here for many years.
